The Temple of the Sun, Peru is magnificent. The views from the top are well worth the trek up the stone stairs. From the top views are spectacular.
The precise stone work is easy to take for granted. However, if you look closely you'll see minute details in the masonry to allow for permanent stability. It's working!
Details of the walls work with sunlight in its different positions to cast shadows that tell the season.
Some say the terraces function as retaining walls to support the royal habitations above.
